OUR HISTORY
The Macedon Baptist Church was started July 3, 1800 in the Town of Palmyra, County of Wayne, and State of New York in the home of Lemuel Spear. (Original name was First Baptist Church Palmyra). Services were held in members’ homes until 1808/1809 when church building was built at Kent’s Corner (now Walworth Rd and Quaker Rd, Macedon).
During the first 35 years, it is noted that the church had over 800 members. In 1803 the church divided and members started the Baptist Church in Penfield. In 1804 the church divided, again, and members started the First Baptist Church of Williamson/Marion. In 1815 the church divided for a third time and members started the First Baptist Church in Ontario (now West Walworth). As surrounding communities grew the church divided yet again in 1832 and members started the First Baptist Church in Walworth.
